About the network
The EuroCJD network was established in 1993 to conduct epidemiological surveillance for Creutzfeldt Jakob disease. Twenty-eight centres from EU Member States and EFTA countries, and 9 non-EU countries, now collaborate on a regular basis. The National CJD Research & Surveillance Unit (NCJDRSU) in Edinburgh, UK is the Hub for the surveillance and research activities of the EuroCJD Network, offering clinical and laboratory advice and support on CJD and other prion diseases with funding from the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC).
